CIRCLE OF REGIONAL EFFIGIES
Guided by the Ten Principles, CORE teams worked together throughout the Spring and Summer to create art that celebrates their Regional identities and showcased the collaborative artistic efforts of their community members. The CORE Project was a celebration of Burning Man's Regional Network and of the work that groups throughout the world are doing to nurture and support the Burning Man ethos as a global cultural movement.
Each year, visitors were encouraged to visit the Everywhere Pavilion on the Esplanade to get placement maps, and read more info about each effigy, meet with Regional Contacts and CORE artists and collaborators.
- In 2011, CORE was the first project of its kind in Black Rock City. 23 Regions were represented with some outstanding effigies. Take a look at the 2011 CORE Installation page.
- The 2012 CORE project was expanded to include 10 additional effigies forming an additional two smaller circles.
- 2013's Circle of Regional Effigies included the highest number of international Regional groups to date with groups from Taiwan, Israel, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Czech Republic, and France joining the circles.
For 2014, groups from across Burning Man's Global Network have been invited to participate in a new collaborative large-scale project, which will reside at the Man Base.
